Bodybuilding and the Olympics - a continuing controversy

The debate on whether bodybuilding an Olympic sport for many years among the bodybuilding community and are interested in the Olympic Games is going to. Ardent fans argue that weightlifting has been an Olympic sport so why not bodybuilding? Diehard fans, bodybuilding and Olympics seems perfect, and questions such as "Why bodybuilding is not already an Olympic sport?" is broadcast regularly.

Perhaps say more questions are "Bodybuilding should be an Olympic sport?", and "Bodybuilding an Olympic sport Olympic help?"

Bodybuilding and the Olympics: why it still isn't an Olympic sport

The current Olympic program consists of 35 sports, 53 disciplines and more than 400 events, from archery, weightlifting and wrestling. Level of the step to the Olympic are the bodybuilding fan base, competitors and sponsors all ready and willing. The stumbling block is the International Olympic Committee and the OPC, simply explained that according to its criteria, bodybuilding, not a sport and it has no place in the Olympic Games.

This is the question of "how a sport first and foremost is used?". A simple definition of the Australian Sports Foundation says that sport "can a result physical exertion and/or physical abilities, which by its nature and organisation, is competitive and is generally recognised as a sport require a human activity."

Probably, bodybuilding fit within this definition, and one would think that this should be enough for the IOC. However, the primary problem of the IOC with bodybuilding in the Olympic issues has drug abuse. They claim that the widespread use of performance-enhancing drugs by bodybuilders bodybuilding would prevent compliance with the Olympic drug policies. There are hard and vigilant doping rules for Olympic competitors, that would exclude many professional bodybuilders.

However, the natural bodybuilding fraternity used not performance enhancing drugs. Olympics could their drug policy can respect only natural bodybuilder part athletes in the Olympic Games. This is also the tradition of the Olympic Games is a competition for sport amateurs, not professionals.

Exclude a further reason for bodybuilding the IOC for the Olympic Games, explained the evaluation competition bodybuilding way too subjective to criticize judges for an Olympics. This argument seems to hold little water sports such as ice skating, diving, and gymnastics in the light of the controversy surrounding the subjective assessment. In fact, bodybuilding seems perfect!
